An elegantly composed antique bar brooch in 14ct yellow gold, dating to around 1900, set with a pale oval aquamarine in a four-claw collet and flanked by two seed pearls. The design is characteristically Edwardian in its restraint — the slender gold bar interrupted by two open oval links that frame the centre stone, with a pearl positioned above and below to balance the composition. The aquamarine is well-faceted with a clean, cool blue tone that reads beautifully against the warm gold.
The brooch is stamped 14ct and originates from the United States, where 14ct was the standard gold purity of the period. At 60mm long it has good presence without bulk, and the piece is in excellent condition throughout. A refined and wearable antique brooch that suits a lapel, scarf, or collar with equal ease.
