A deeply romantic and beautifully preserved Victorian sentimental brooch, comprising a powder blue enamel bow set throughout with seed pearls, suspending a matching blue enamel heart locket drop centred with a delicate cluster of seed pearls in a flower formation. The bow is rendered with real presence — the enamel a rich, even powder blue throughout — with seed pearls scattered across each loop and a fine engine-turned gold panel at the centre knot, the warm yellow gold visible beneath giving the piece a wonderful depth of colour and craftsmanship.
The suspended heart is a locket, with a glazed compartment to the reverse for a photograph or lock of hair — a quintessentially Victorian sentiment that makes this brooch not merely decorative but personal in the most touching sense. In solid gold with a bright high carat gilt finish, this is a piece that speaks directly to the most cherished tradition of Victorian jewellery: beauty in the service of love and remembrance. Circa 1860s–1880s.
